These videos have all been created by the Scotland's Rural Past team over the duration of the project. They are a basic introduction to survey techniques and the interpretation of typical rural settlement remains. The first four videos give a detailed account on how to use a handheld GPS, site sketching, using a plane table, and measured survey with tape and offset. They were filmed at Threipmuir, Midlothian and Birkcleugh in the Scottish Borders. The remaining five videos were created in association with the Forestry Commission as part of the Forest Heritage Scotland project. They were filmed at the abandoned rural settlement site of Rogie in Easter Ross and the Highland Folk Museum, Newtonmore.
