Baliscate 1
Kiln.
An exposed stone built kiln located within a turf bank (Appears to be a fine example).
The top of the bowl inside the stonework measures 52"diameter. Length of flue is 50" from the inside of the kiln.
Further measurements to be taken; diameter of kiln at base inside, depth of kiln, thickness of stonework, and width and height of flue. A compass reading to determine angle of flue. Location of building on the site.
Building No 1. (Nearest to the kiln).
The majority of stones are quite exposed and are one to two courses deep, indicating an oblong building rounded at one end.
The length is 23'6" from the outside of the stonework, and is 8'8" at the widest point narrowing off gently. The doorway is 2'6" in from one of the corners, and measures 2'6" in width.
Further measurements are to be taken;circumference at rounded end of building. Depth of stonework. Location of the building on the site.
Building No 2.
The majority of stones are hidden by undergrowth and are one to two courses deep, indicating an oblong building.
The length is 15' f rom the outside of the stonework, and 10'6" wide. The doorway is 3' in from one of the corners, and measures 2' in width.
